Hey, camels, bears and giraffes are not the only well-known animals that possess a broken lateral gait! The so-called "Gaited" horse breeds to too, and that's why they're so popular. Without that moment of jarring suspension in the trot, these guys are super smooth to ride. Those with an evenly balanced gait 1-2-3-4 are, for example, the Peruvian Horse, the Paso Fino, the Tennessee Walking horse, Icelandic Horse, and others that generally have three feet on the ground like a baby crawling. There some with an 'off-center' beat, like the Missouri Fox trotter, 1-2--3-4 or the Singlefooter, who can move at speed with three hooves in the air and one touching down. There are many others as well, but these are best known in America. Many descent from the Barb and Jennet horses of Africa and Spain. Check it out!
