The Lightning Field by Walter De Maria is decades old but still holds sway as one of the most powerful earth and air art installations of our time. Evenly spaced lightning rods are spread out over a kilometer of low-grassed ground and visitors are encouraged to stroll leisurely through this huge lightning-attracting park – perhaps to catch a glimpse of lightning close up.
