There are many things that a someone can do in order to save energy and increase efficiency and it doesn’t have to be as extreme as the above comment. Let’s take water conservation an an example. Most of the water use in an average 4 person home comes from flushing the toilet. Unless of course you have a “low-flush” toilet then the usage is a bit less. But let’s say you can’t afford those expensive toilets, a simple solution would be to fill up an empty 2 liter bottle with water and place it in the back of your toilet (where all the flushing components are located. that bottle is going to take up water volume space and when you flush the toilet is going to save that amount of water volume space it takes up. It is not a long term fix but it’s something easy that everyone can do.

The basic underpinnings of the "American Dream" are being molded into a sustainable lifestyle by websites like this one! Slowly and surely, one small item at a time, we approach a point in the future where input and output balance and all is well with America and the economy! Solar power, the "Perpetual" resource is freely available in the desert regions of South Western U.S.A. We need to stop foreign oil imports, even if they give it to us, and develop our God given riches! It is very tempting to go out and buy a large engined car when oil is $38.00 a bbl, but we must resist and get free from Saudi and OPEC influence to be a really free people. We can do good in the world, and prosper again, we can grow an empire based of fairness, democracy and love, we can bring the world more peace than it has ever known, we can bring intelligence, and self-sufficiency to all, if we are self-sufficient ourselves. Free us from domination by the oil barons and watch the world grow! Solar, wind, wave, tidal, and geothermal are starting-points, fusion is not far off, and sustainable is the keyword to the future of mankind!

There's a lot we can do to conserve, no doubt. I am a designer and just came across a cool site for reusable bags and other green products. Any other designers out there might like www.myplanetstuff.com it's a pretty unique green site and has a more upbeat/positive message than most.
